It’s great to be back after the half-term break for our final 7 weeks of the school year. The children have begun the final half-term the way they fin-ished the last, oozing confi-dence, enthusiasm and show-ing a desire for learning every day.
In Maths, pupils across the phase have been tackling one of the trickiest mathematical concepts there is...time! This has included reading analogue clocks, involving Roman Numerals, adding and subtracting time and learning about the 24hour clock. In English, pupils have begun letter writing, including to characters from Star Wars and Diary of a Wimpy Kid. The children have been learning how to extend their sentences to provide more information and how to write formally. The new topic in Science is sound and pupils have enjoyed learning how sound is made and how it travels by using rice, a drum and tuning forks. In Art, children have begun learning to create real life drawings from observations, working on their shading skills in the process. Also, children have been researching Viking veg soup and in a couple of weeks, their research and cooking skills will be put to the test when they have to prepare, make and cook the soup. Of course, they will have a go at the best part, tasting!
As you may be aware from the website, on Thursday 7th July Years 3&4 are having a Viking themed day. This includes pupils, and staff, dressing up as Vikings for the day. Therefore, start thinking of your costumes. There will be more information about the day next week in a letter which will be sent home with all pupils.
