What a great first week back we have had in UKS2! The children have returned with a real enthusiasm for school and it has been fantastic to hear about some of the adventures you all got up to during the half term holiday.
The children in all classes picked up from where we left off in terms of fractions, decimals and percentages and this has really helped them through this difficult unit. Class 7 and 8 have been looking at mixed numbers and improper fractions and generating methods to convert between them. They have then been applying this skill to real life problems. In Class 9 we have been tackling how to find a percentage of a number! All our children should be able to spot a bargain when they see those percentage sale signs in the shops!
In English, all three classes have turned in to reporters for the week! We have looked at the Greek myth of Theseus and the Minotaur and completed a ‘Have a go write’; turning it in to a newspaper article.
In other areas the children have started to study adaptation and looked carefully at the features that allow animals to survive in the environment they live. We have also started to look at some geography: studying maps and working out what features are human and which are physical!
We would also like to thank you for the support you are giving your children at home. The hard work at home is really beginning to pay off in school!
